About the event

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. and 2nd leading cause of death of youth ages 15-24, YET suicide assessment and intervention are not required training in mental health graduate programs and few professionals have formal training in suicide assessment and intervention. This training reviews the current scope of suicide rate at national level and prepares providers to address suicide risk. The training reviews basic screening and intervention skills, helps clinicians develop a framework for triage and provides resources immediate and long term care needs. 

Learning objectives: 

1)Understand the epidemiology of suicide

2)Employ basic screening and intervention techniques

3)Utilize triage decision tree - when/when not to hospitalize4)Identify immediate and long term resources* 

TRAINING MEETS 2 HOUR SUICIDE PREVENTION REQUIREMENT FOR MENTAL HEALTHPROFESSIONALS AS SET IN HB1719 **THE MISSOURI COALITION FOR COMMUNITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE WILL AWARD UP TO 2.4 CONTACT HOURS FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION. THE MISSOURI COALITION FOR COMMUNITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE APPROVED THIS PROGRAM FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS. MCCBH WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM AND MAINTAIN A RECORD OF YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS EARNED.
